Ten Cents is a tugboat from America.
Biography[]
Ten Cents was built in 1920 for the Star Tugs Company located at Vicarstown Harbor (which was called The Big City Port until 1923). He worked with several other tugs until hard times came for the company in 1923 and it had to close.
All of the 8 water vehicles that worked for the company were sold all around the world. It is currently unknown where 4 of them (Big Mac, Top Hat, Warrior, and Sunshine) were sold but one of them (OJ) was sold to a harbor in Africa and the remaining 3 (Ten Cents, Hercules and Grampus) were sold to Knapford Harbor by the end of 1923. All 3 of them worked there and were even there when Lady arrived on Sodor in 1925. But Hercules was sold to the same harbor OJ was sold to in 1930.
Ten Cents and Grampus worked at the harbor with Thomas until Grampus was sold in 1948. Ten Cents was soon sold to The Region in 1952.
Personality[]
Ten Cents is one of the younger and braver Star Tugs. He has a tendency to be somewhat cheeky at times, but is strong-willed, and it takes a lot to break him. He is quick-witted and takes action swiftly without hesitation. He never lets other tugs bully him, never fails to stand up for others, and is always willing to set aside his own safety for the sake of others. He has a bit of a short temper, but he is also smart enough to listen to the advice of the older, more experienced tugs. He also shows a great deal of respect and kindness to others around him, by tooting his whistle all the time and greeting other tugs such as Boomer, or even the likes of the Z-Stacks.
Ten Cents usually worked with Sunshine, the Star Fleet's second and smallest switcher. They have shared many adventures, almost to the extent that it is impossible to imagine one without the other. Ever since Sunshine joined the fleet, he and Ten Cents have been the best of friends. Hercules often relies on Ten Cents to look after others such as Lillie or the Duchess.
